how to remove hidden recovery partition?
how to remove hidden recovery partition?
hey all,
i tried searching for a little while - no one seems to have a guide to removing the hidden partition to create more space.. I currently have an x60s, and would like the maximum amount of space available to me ..
I've already created the recovery cd's, so I figure if something goes really wrong I can always restore with those
how can I go about reclaiming my lost space? thanks much

Re: how to remove hidden recovery partition?
Boot your TP using an usb disk with acronis disk director. It worked for me. Then you can remove the partition if you want. I didn't do that myself, I just resized the wincrap partition and created a couple new ones for linux/dapper and my stuff.word2218 wrote:hey all,

You need to disable the security setting in the bios,word2218 wrote:hey all,

here you can try (not yet available for x60):
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-61873
Security->Predesktop Area->disabled

Re: how to remove hidden recovery partition?
if I do that, do I need any sort of software or make any other changes to make it part of my normal c:drive?Zeitgeist wrote: You need to disable the security setting in the bios,

also, I have a securedrive set up, would turning off the security in the bios disable that as well?
Re: how to remove hidden recovery partition?
You should make it active in acronis tools and format it to make it appear in the windows as new drive or merge the two partitions with acronis tools to add that 4 giga to your current C drive.Zeitgeist wrote:
