240X CMOS Battery?

#1 Post by losmeme » Mon May 22, 2006 10:29 am

Hello all;

Does the 240X have a CMOS battery?? Getting ready to disassemble my 240X to check connections, take out an un-used modem card and generally make sure everything is OK under the hood. Is there a CMOS battery on the mainboard I could replace while I'm in there?? Anyone know the size?? Looked at the HMM, but no mention of one.

I have been receiving a HDD error while booting, no matter what drive is installed. (Hard Disk Drive Smart error, press F1 to continue) Also, the HDD makes a screeching noise, which is not present if I use the drive in the Second HDD Adapter. Against all rational odds, I am hoping it is just a loose connection!

Anymore ideas on what other maintenance can be done while I have the lid off?? Thanks for you insight!

I wonder if Ebay#6870182887 will do the trick ( battery with solder tabs ) though it's pricy.
