To extend warranty for R series or not ?

#1 Post by Puppy » Thu May 25, 2006 3:25 am

I'm just considering to upgrade warranty of my R51 to 4 years. Are there arguments against it ? It is nice model with 15" FlexView display which is no longer available for R series so another option would be to buy T60 and sell this one. I'm also not very fond of frequent selling/buying things, especially if they works :D Opinions ?

If you can take care of your TP well, then you do not need to upgrade the warranty at all. If you intend to go overseas with your TP, then you should apply for the insurance. Are you going to use the TP for another 4 years? If yes, then you can consider upgrading the warranty. If no, then better not. Waste of $$. The decision is yours to make. Meanwhile, i am using T60 to play my online games on it. I had used R51 before and there are differences between these 2. You can try to buy a T60 from Bill.

I already have it for nearly two years (end-user customers have two years warranty over here regardless of the vendor provides shorter warranty or not). So I'm going to use it for at least one or more years. Typically electronics has a problem after three years of usage :D

It the cost is reasonable, it is worth the piece of mind. At a minimum, you can replace the keyboard every so often

I agree. The security is great. Things happen. Laptops as machines are fragile. A screen breaking or accidental spill repair will already put the money back in your pocket.
