Adding memory to Thinkpads?

I have looked around on lenovo's site and read some of their service manuals. They only mentioned how to replace the memory (under the touchpad I suppose) but not how to add another sodimm to the empty slot (there should be one). Could anybody please let me know where I can find information on this operation? I am about to add 1G memory to my system.

The two RAM slots are under the touchpad. Here is the instruction manual:

Nah, it's a piece of cake. I did it the other day. Shutdown, battery out, undo the 4 screws and pop the palmrest off. Fit the RAM, pop the palmrest back on (this is not that hard) and the screws in, battery in and awaaaaaay you go.... Shouldn't take more than literally 2 minutes.

The "un-normal" T60p is more than worth the trouble to add a stick of RAM. It is just not a big deal. I agree I have always enjoyed opening the little door on the bottom but the T60p construction is different and this process has changed.

The new "cage" or frame on the T60p adds alot of heft to the feel of the unit. The performance is un matched.

true... it would be just nicer of them if they can put one slot at the back. I am a bit uneasy to dissemble my Thinkpad myself even though I had done that to other notebooks before.

Frankly I prefer memory slots inside. "Back doors" are a place where dust can get in; not all are built as well as the T40 RAM access plate. On my OmniBook 800CT, the sliding door for the second bank can open easily, I eventually just put small dots of crazy glue on to keep it snug.
