I have been in contact with lenovo on both these and have pre-posted versions (not beta's) and they seem so far to solve many issues. keep on the lookout for both.. also heard some rumblings there maybe an eco on the adv mini dock

What's frustrating about this is it doesn't show up on the T60/p device drive matrix, and the Software Installer doesn't pick it up. I hope Lenovo does better than IBM and provides a uniform way of finding the most recent drivers. Right now, it's a mess.

Installing the new driver now...

I agree with RonS. Besides not knowing if i should use Software Installer, or System Update 2, both seem to vary in what they both consider hte most up to date software and both seem to fail utterly in keeping up with whats on the lenovo software download website.

advanced mini eco

#10 Post by johnp126 » Tue May 30, 2006 11:18 am

since i have 3 that are to be swapped and i have been waiting for over a week, also i have been in contact with lenovo high level support and they think (not confirmed) there maybe an eco due to problems still awaiting more info, just sounds odd that they can't get a part on a new system

T'Pad 600e, 770x, A20p, A21p, A30p, A31p (2653-H3U), T43p (2668-Q2U) & T60p (2623-DDU)...it's an addiction.

bios and video

#13 Post by johnp126 » Tue May 30, 2006 2:05 pm

Go get the latest bios 1.05 and video driver (go to the video download even though on device matrices it says feb 06 version) it IS newer.

That should solve the screen blanking issue it did on me. also when 1.06 or later comes out should solve some of the other issues.

the ECO yes only because i have been waiting for more than a week for replacement units lenovo thought that it might be that it waiting on confirmation

hi john, are you replacing your docks because IBM/Lenovo believes that is what is causing the power off problem?

If so, it will occur with any advanced mini dock; I have tested my T60 on 3 mini docks including a brand new replacement from Lenovo. They keep trying to blame it on the dock when it is clearly the T60 causing the problem.

John - as you've seen the details of the new firmwares, might they resolve the issues with video cards in the Advanced Dock PCI-E slot reported in the thread http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=25584 ?

Just to get this straight: You are talking about the problem that sometimes when you dock, the T60 just powers off?

Hey guys, when you apply the BIOS update, I assume you guys are removing your BIOS password, like suggested in the readme...

What is the best way to do this? Just set it to ""?

I am just wondering because I did this once with my R40 when I was having it serviced and it ended up still asking for a password which was supposed to be ""! I think the service guy had to open it up to fix it...

Does anyone know if this fixes the 'client security wizard hangs forever' problem when trying to use the security chip?

I DL'ed and installed the new BIOS without a hitch.

I also DL'ed and installed the new video drivers and had a small problem...
The install was in the process of removing the old drivers when a popup appeared that said Windows needed to be restarted. The options were restart now or restart later. I selected restart now and then install hung up.
I ended up having to use Task Manager to end the install program and then I rebooted. I ran the video install again and it went through fine.

I would suggest selecting "reboot later" to make sure the installation has completed and then manually rebooting.

Bill, did you unset your BIOS password before applying (if it was set previously)?

I'm now on the latest BIOS and Video package and still experiencing the "screen won't come back from power savings" syndrome.

To have this minor a glitch (among others) hang around for so long is disappointing. Until it's patched-tested-verified the T60 has no future in my organization.

These nagging issues, the downfall of software installer/system updater and lag time on fixes speaks volumes about where this new business entity is headed.

Sell, sell, sell...who cares whether it works or not. Still not selling? Drop the price.

I think I've read this novel before and I didn't like the ending.

Same problem here. Seems Lenovo is having too many issues with the T60.
