Just wanted to drop a hello line here.
I own a 64mb Thinkpad 390 (2626200) which runs 233 flabbergasting Megahertz with 64mb intern (2x32, but 2x64 or 2x128 incoming i hope) and just 2 gig HD (the original went dead).
I worked a time with Win98SE but all my usb devices needed special drivers (every usb stick the same routine...) and WiFi wasnt great either.
I formatted the beauty last weekend and tried Win2000. I didnt expect to get a workable laptop but it has turned into its second life! It works pretty well and no flaws at all (except a 233 aint very fast but hey.. our mass economy is fast lane enough).
I hope i can arrange some working fast memory soon.
Did i understand correctly the other slot is meant for a modem?

Yes the other compartment is for the modem. You can only use 2 sticks for a maximum of 256mb. Even if you put some PC100 in there, it will still run at PC66.Jazzper wrote: I hope i can arrange some working fast memory soon.

Windows 2000 does works great on those machines with either 128 or 256mb of ram.
