closing the LCD and staying connected

#1 Post by juancferrer » Thu Aug 05, 2004 3:47 pm

how can i keep the wireless running, and still keep downloading stuff, when i close the LCD lid??

I leave the laptop downloading stuff overnight, and i don't wanna kill the useful lifetime of the LCD by having the LCD running pretty much 24/7.

You can turn off the LCD with "Fn-F3."

And if you want to close the lid and not go into standby mode, go to: "Start - Control Panel - Powe Options." Click the "Advanced" tab and select "Do nothing" from the "When I close the lid..." drop down...

i really feel stupid now..Fn+F3 is all i needed, i saw the F4 button, and i know it makes it go to sleep, but the "x" on the F3 button made it seem like it shutdown the computer.

thanks for the tip

also you could right click on your desktop and choose properties, thn choose the screen saver tab, then coose the Power option at the bottom. At this windows choose the Advance tab, and where it says "When I close the lid of my notebook: " set it to Do Nothing.

thats it...
