Sounds problem on the z60t

#1 Post by kakashiyp » Tue May 30, 2006 12:46 pm

Hey guys, I'm completely stumped and am open to any and all suggestions. Well in the effort to play with the upcoming technology I installed Vista on my z60t. I wasn't the one who installed it, but the person who did blew away my partitions so I have no restore ability back to xp.

After getting xp installed again, I am having problems getting my sound card to activate properly. Device manager says audio legacy drivers, but there are no driver details, I can't update the driver and I can't uninstall it. I downloaded the the drivers from lenovo (model# 2511-feu) but it says no HPA device found, can not install.

Any suggestions?

see if you can get a set of recovery CD's..
i know this is a simplistic answer but its what i would do..

there might be someone here who is close to you and might be inclined to make you a set..

if lenovo won't send one out to you..

Thanks... I already tried that.. the answer from lenovo "Sure thing sir, the fee for the recovery CDs is $40". I said, I'll call you back, Thanks.

So yea. No recovery CD unless i get really frustrated.. LOL

Try carefully following the instructions on the following page.

Note: UAA High Definition Audio Class Driver (Article ID 888111) provided by Microsoft should be installed before installing the IBM/Lenovo driver.

After downloading 77a215ww.exe, double-click on the file to extract it's contents. Then follow the installation instructions on the page below.

Audio driver for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t

I had a same issue when i was reinstalling from XP Pro disc it was very frustrating. Then i read on some forums that you need some Audio driver and it pointed to saphirre site let me check the link. the file is ALC_HDA it is a arround 40MB zipped file. Once you install it, the sound will work fine.

Actually, IBM/Lenovo provides the UAA HDA drivers on their site. They are bundled with other Windows XP Update Modules modified for ThinkPads (that you most likely also need to install to avoid minor and possibly major "bugs" in the future). So there's no need to go to Saphire site. Just download OSFX31US.EXE and install it with the Software Installer:

Download page:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-64133

Direct download:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... fx31us.exe

If you can't find it, the page is called: "Common Microsoft Windows XP update modules - US - ThinkPad R51e, X41 Tablet, X60/s, T60/p, Z60m/t, Lenovo 3000 C100, N100".

If you want to install only HDA, the actual HDA drivers will be located in:
C:\DRIVERS\WXP\OSFIXES\WXPUP\OSDC01WW\XPSP2

You first need to completely uninstall audio drivers, restart, install HDA, restart, install audio drivers, restart ... and it's done.

Hope it helps :)
