How to Force the Home Key to Open a New browser Window?

#1 Post by Peter Babelfish » Tue May 30, 2006 7:35 pm

Hi,

I have an issue with the webkeys on my Thinkpad. On my own system if I press the 'Home key' and there are no 'Windows Explorer' windows open on my desktop that have 'focus' then the Home key launches my web-browser at its home page. Great.

However, if there is a Windows Explorer window open on the desktop and it has focus then the Home key tries to open my home page in Windows Explorer.

Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? In effect, I would prefer that every time I press the Home key a new browser window is launched and goes to my home page.

Mmm, I assume this is dedicated "Home" browser key and not the "Home" key on the keyboard. What model Thinkpad do you have?

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Hello Christopher

Yes, it's the 'Home' key on what are referred to as the 'Web Navigation Keys'. There is a Lenovo app called the 'ThinkPad web navigation keys agent' that shows key settings - and allows the 'Mail' key to be pointed to a preferred email app - but that is all the configuration that can be done from that 'agent' (which is a pity).

ThinkPad I have is A31-2652.
