Need help - 570 has no IBM/Thinkpad Software

Hello,

I finally received my 570 and while it indeed has Windows 2000 - it has nothing else on the hard drive and no CDs.

I know I should be able to download and install all the IBM Thinkpad Software and driver updates, BUT I first went to get "Software Installer" - but it doesn't work with any Thinkpad before the T23.

Since that is a lot of people, I thought this is probably not a new question, yet I can't find the information using Search (the usual "no search by Subject only" problem).

I don't want to download and install every little bit manually - I know that IBM has an automated updater, but I think that requires a more recent Thinkpad as well.

What's the best and shortest way to go about getting all the IBM/Thinkpad software and update all the drivers on a 570 ?

Install the Software Installer.

Reboot the machine.

Try running the app.

Works on all of my 600X machines, which are a similar age to your 570.

You can try to install it. It might not work, as it wouldn't on a few 600Es that I tried it on. I haven't tried in a while, since it didn't work before.

No 570 listed, or even any T series prior to T23.

But I took your advice, and it seemed to install (without a reboot), but the only things it found to update were Trackpoint and Battery Maximizer.

I downloaded the Configuration Utility and will install and run that, and then will run Windows Update.

Yeah, the list isn't current. I have used it on my T21, and my T20s, before I sold them....even though they aren't listed.
