Dead Battery or Faulty Charging ??

#1 Post by kstuart » Thu Jun 01, 2006 1:51 am

Hello,

My 570 arrived today and the plus side is that it is a 13" XGA rather than the specified 12" 800x600. :)

The Bad News is that the Thinkpad does abolutely nothing when the Battery is inserted, and the AC Adapter is disconnected. But, it runs fine with the AC Adapter, and the Battery shows "0% - Charging" in the Power details.

How can I tell whether the battery is dead or whether the charging system does not work ? Although there is a strong likelihood that for the very low price, the used laptop dealer put a dead battery into the unit, however I don't want to have to wait until a new battery arrives by mail (no thinkpads within 300 miles of me) before deciding that I need to return/exchange the 570, so if there is some sort of test, it would be very helpful.

Thanks again!
