Thinkpad 760E VESA/SVGA video?

#1 Post by Blur2040 » Thu Jun 01, 2006 2:21 am

Howdy folks....

I'm baffled.

All I really want to do is play Quake in a slightly higher resolution on my 760 E. Doesn't sound so bad, right?

The problem is that the high resolutions aren't available in DOS Quake. The reason? I don't have SVGA drivers for the card. I've tried universal ones, and I'ved tried ones that are specifically for the card, but I can't seem to make heads or tails of them. I've searched through IBM sites...and ftps, but no help. They only offer Windows Drivers.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? ...I believe the Trident Cyber 9385 is the video controller in question.

Thanks!

I'll admit it, I found those before, but I can't figure out how they work at all. When I try to install drivers...it only does it for certain dos programs...like wordperfect...or GEM or whatever. No one for general DOS games.

It has been a LONG time since I last played Quake but, I seem to remember using WinQuake or GLQuake to enable higher resolutions.
Try WinQuake HERE.
