is my thinkpad upgradeable to bluetooth?

When I ordered my T42, I was in a big rush to get it for work. They told me that adding bluetooth would delay my order almost three weeks. I settled and had them send it without the bluetooth. BIG MISTAKE. I just know that I'm going to lose the little USB adapter I got.

I called IBM to get information on ordering the bluetooth modem daughter card, but those morons in sales don't seem to know what I'm talking about.

Do any of you know what the exact IBM part number is? I have a T42, model 2378-DUU and really would appreciate any help. Thanks.

You are lucky, since your model already has the Bluetooth antenna in the LCD. All you need is the clear plate (FRU: 13R2455) and the BMDC-2 (FRU: 91P7319). Just enter these FRU numbers here and complete the check out.

How can i find out the same info? I have a t42 2373-6uu. Does mine have the antenna?

Sorry, no BT antenna in your model. Check
Hardware Maintenance Manual, from page 190 (196 in Adobe), find your model, and if you have a BT next to the model number, then you have the BT antenna in the LCD.

G-man,
Sorry to bother you again, but what's your take on 2373-3VU. I thought a few threads ago some of us had concluded that it does not have the BT antenna. I took a look at pg 201 (207 in Adobe) of the Hardware manual you've linked and lo and behold, it says BT.

2373-3Vx, 2374-3Vx BT, SC

Am I reading that right?

I recollect even Bill saying so. I guess IBM does sometimes publish contradicting information. But which one do we trust?

Anyone here who's willing to open up their 3vu's? I'm too conservative just yet to touch a screwdriver to my case

Well (according to HMM), 2373-3Vx and 2374-3Vx do have BT antenna. Any 3Vx owner out there?
