I just installed (via software installer) the new ATI driver package for my T43 (version 8.163.1.1.1) and it installed fine but on restarting my computer I was no longer able to get any resolution over the panel standard 1400x1050. Even after going into the advanced settings of the Windows display settings, the maximum resolution I could select was 1400x1050. That's as far as the slider went.
So I restored my machine to a point before I installed the new driver and after a few hiccups everything is now fine again and my external 1600x1200 monitor works att he correct resolution. However, the ATI driver still shows version 8.163.1.1.1.
Two questions - firstly, does anyone know why I lost the caapbility to select resolutions over 1400x1050 when I installed the new driver?
And secondly, I thought restoring ones computer to "an earlier time" also removed applications installed since the "earlier time". If so, why is the ATI driver still showing up as the new version?
Any insight appreciated.
