A31P upgrade to 2200BG wireless (no antenna)

#1 Post by relax » Thu Jun 01, 2006 11:01 pm

I'm about to upgrade to an Intel 2200BG wireless mini pci card, but my model (2653-L3G) does not originally come with an antenna. In my manual I found the following FRU: Antenna assembly for wireless LAN (27L0684)

Can anyone tell me if the above part is all I need and if it is possible at all to do such an upgrade on this originally non-wireless model.

Many thanks in advance,
Martijn.

Yes the antenna wires is all you need to connect
to the Intel card.
It is very possible to do this upgrade as I have
done it with my A31.
You will need to disassemble your A31P almost
80% apart to install the wires.
Refer to your manual for instructions.
Make sure you do not lose any small parts or screws.
Make notes where they were attached to.
You will not have a problem if you do that.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'll order the part from IBM later today :D
