Pixel Problems

#1 Post by ipark » Sat Jun 03, 2006 3:58 am

I'll type something in my entry box for a certain website, and then I'll hit the backspace button on a few words, and that's when a pixel or two appears where the words were. but once i start typing again, it disappears.

The thing is, it only happens on a select few websites. It doesn't happen on this site but it does in my gmail and blogger. I'm not sure what's going on, but i wanted to know if that was normal/common behavior.

My T42 is not even a month old and I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned about.

I also noticed that while using gmail to compose an outgoing mail, in the To: and Subject: boxes, the blinking cursor has some sort of perpendicular stick attached to the top right of the cursor. it kind of looks like this |- it's just that the little dash is attached to the cursor at the very top. The cursor is normal again inside the Body: of the message.

Sounds to me more like a program/windows issue than anything potentially hardware.

Unless a pixel is stuck, permanently, no matter what the screen is displaying or how many restarts you do, I wouldn't worry about an occasional 'glitch'

This exact thing seems to happen at wikipedia.org.

But yeah, it's definitely NOT a hardware issue, although I will admit I freaked out a little bit the first time I saw it.

I assume you don't have any real dead pixels, and consider yourself extremely lucky. I have a dead pixel right in the middle of my screen, but I've somehow learned to ignore it over time.
