want to update BIOS but...

Hey wanted to install thinkpad BIOS update from 5/17 or 5/18/06 but suddenly my computer won't start past the Thinkpad press F8 for more options screen. It stays on that sceen and I have to hold down the power button at least 10 times and then it may start. I don't want to intsall the BIOS because I am afraid when it restarts it won't get to that screen or something else will happen. YOu are never supposed to interrupt a BIOS update. Any clues guys?

Hard to say. Might be your hard drive is failing. Make a PC-Doctor for DOS bootable CD, boot up from it and run the system tests.
