HD Upgrade - will any 2.5" SATA drive work -120GB WD Sa

#1 Post by zgco » Mon Jun 05, 2006 4:38 pm

Hello, I have a 120 GB Western Digital SATA Scorpio HD and would like to use this with my X60s that I just ordered? Will it work or is there some type of bios lock that requires me to purvhase the drive from Lenovo? If I remeber correctly there was some type of issue with the T60 series regarding HD upgrading? I appreciate your reply. Cheers.

Doubtful

I doubt there will be a problem. I thought I heard about someone using a Seagate Momentus. I bought a Hitachi Travelstar from a non-Lenovo source and there have been no troubles.

I think the whitelisting items in the BIOS mostly has to do with radio broadcast products (wifi, bluetooth, and WWAN mini PCI cards) where the FCC wouldn't be happy about you putting in whatever you wanted. I don't think they whitelist harddrives.

I'm using a Segate Momentus 120gb 5400rpm in my x60s. No troubles.
