Case/Sleeve for X60s with 8-cell battery?
Case/Sleeve for X60s with 8-cell battery?
I would like to find a snug fitting/small case for my X60s...so I thought I would see if anyone has found one that is fairly streamlined/slim that will fit the laptop with battery, AC power cord, a USB optical drive, and a bluetooth mouse...would really like to find a "sleeve" type semi-hard sided(cushioned) case that has a shoulder strap and handles.
THANKS!
THANKS!

There are already a few threads on sleeves -- in the future you should use the search function before creating a new thread:

I have the Brenthaven 3180
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834996124
It's not "slim" by most standards but it's a very snug fit, and there is a pocket in front to hold AC adaptor, USB Drive, Mouse etc. and best of all this thing can probably protect your laptop from dropping off a two stories building.

Thanks CalBioEngr !
I have nothing to do with Brenthaven or Newegg, I just ordered the Brenthaven shown above and am totally impressed by this case! I don't think the price is bad at all because it does offer some great protection and is just what I'm looking for in a case. I'm surprised it was this cheap, seemed that the only place with this model case was Newegg and I saw other Brenthaven cases of similar size for twice the price elsewhere.
For anyone interested in the case, here are some highlights that arent really described anywhere online I could find or on the newegg website.
-the ballistic nylon/denier is of very high quality so it should be very durable and the stitching is very good as is the fit and finish of the materials
-the shoulder strap is actually made of a seatbelt like material (very flexible and very strong) and the shoulder pad has some non-slip material on it and is padded quite nicely
-Zippers are YKK which I've had good luck with in the past
-my X60s with 8-cell and ultrabase attached fits snugly with no movement...without the ultrabase there still isnt much significant movement because the laptop compartment is surrounded by clothe-covered foam blocks which compress in when closed (so it is fairly form-fitting).
-the handles have hard rods of some material going through them (covered by leather(or fake leather-can't tell the diff.) and nylon) which makes it really nice to carry because the handles dont "cave" in around your hands
-there is a sheet of hard material that is sewn into the material that surrounds the laptop compartment on the outside of the foam material described above-So there is nice soft nylon cloth touching your laptop, then outside that the foam, then outside of that this hard material...NICE! I would be fairly confident the laptop would be fine if dropped onto the ground from carrying height.
-there is a velcro'd opening on the outside of one side that you can put paper (or other thin items in) and on the other side there is a zip open compartment that has some smaller compartments in it for misc. items, some pencil holders, a compartment that fits my bluetooth mouse PERFECTLY! a little key holder clip thingy, and a couple of mesh pockets. On the outside of that is a smaller zip open compartment that will fit the AC adaptor nicely.
-There is a rather nice badge/medallion with the Brenthaven name on the side of the case.
-Nice black quick-release hardware on the shoulder strap
Upon further review of some paperwork in the case, looks like this was made specifically for the 12" Apple Powerbook, but it fits the X60s nicely...the manuf. item # is T8866LL/A if you want to search for more information online or order from other source besides Newegg.
I would agree with the weight given online of between 2 and 2.5lbs.
I looked around quite a bit for a case and for the price (actually even twice the price), I dont think you'll find a nicer case for the X60 that blends quality materials/build, compactness, protection, and accessory cargo space than this one. By no means can you carry books and a bunch of junk with you in this case, but if you want a minimalistic case that will fit more than just the laptop, this is it.

I have had this same case for 5 years. I was using it for an Sony VAIO SRX that is about the same dimensions as the X60s, and now that I have the X60s I'm using the Brenthaven case for it.utgrad wrote:I looked around quite a bit for a case and for the price (actually even twice the price), I dont think you'll find a nicer case for the X60 that blends quality materials/build, compactness, protection, and accessory cargo space than this one. When I saw this case on Newegg, I was shocked...
By the way, mine still looks like new and I continue to enjoy it....
