Hardrives and Active Protection System

#1 Post by jhrain » Tue Jun 06, 2006 12:57 am

I have a T42p (2373) with Active Shock Protection. I'd like to replace the hardrive with a 7200 RPM unit that also has the shock protection capability.

I'd like to buy one directly from Lenovo and don't mind paying a little extra.

Does anyone have any suggested FRU's?

If you feel strongly that another vendor can offer a better drive with shock protection, I'm open to suggestions. I've read and read a lot of comments about hardrives but honestly am a little overwhelmed.

Thank You,
JIM

The HDAPS is not on the HDD; rather, it is a 3D MEMs accelerometer unit on the main-board. If it detects a shock is imminent, it will ramp the heads of the HDD off the platters to protect the HDD. As long as the HDD is a normal, 2.5" form factor drive it should work.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
