Got my Recovery CDs . . . but

Well, I just got my T42 yesterday. Since I already have a full real version of XP Pro, I ordered the thinkpad with xp home to save a few bucks. Before I reinstalled everything, I made some restore cds.

Anyways, I called IBM yesterday at around four to send me a second set of restore cds. I woke up today, and they're here, with one problem. They're for XP Pro, while I ordered my laptop with xp home. Will the XP Pro ones install?

yes they will... and u wont need to use ur retail xp to install unless u prefer doing a clean installation and installing everything from scratch.

well, it's a corp version of xp I have from college, and I've already done a fresh install as I prefer having everything from scratch.

And are you sure it'll install XP Pro? Isn't there some sort of check for the serial # or something?

You'll be just fine. The CDs check that there's an IBM BIOS and then they'll install the OS.
