BIOS update 1.27

#1 Post by t43er » Tue Jun 06, 2006 4:59 pm

Hello guys, I wonder if you guys can update the BIOS update version 1.27. Whenever it restarts, the BIOS update will not run. I've tried numberous time but it still won't run. Fyi I've followed the instructions and insert a fully charged battery when running the update.

See if the following apply in your case:
This BIOS version will only work with Embedded Controller Program Version 1.03 (or higher).
You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program.
If your system is attached to any kind of port replicator, turn off the system and detach it before proceeding.
If a USB Diskette Drive is attached to your system, turn off the system and detach it before proceeding.
Remove the Power-on password prior to updating the BIOS in RDM (Remote Deployment Manager) environment or similar environment.
I suppose there could be a problem with Windows interfering with the BIOS update. In that case you could download the diskette version and use it to update your BIOS. Of course, floppy drives are getting kind of passé these days.

Thanks for replying. I don't have a usb floppy disk drive. Guess I would just wait for another version of BIOS update and hope it will work next time.

Nicky sorry for being so noob but can you teach me how can I update the BIOS using the external hdd or removable drive? Is it by changing the boot sequence? Thanks in advance.

I am no expert, but there are others here who can help. I would suggest, though, looking at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-59097
which has the download for the diskette BIOS update and has info in the associate text file as to how to install it. (1yuj16ud.txt 17,277 README for System Program Service Diskette (BIOS))

Hope this helps.
