Swapping R32 system boards

#1 Post by tagawa » Wed Jun 07, 2006 6:56 am

Hello,
Still trying to revive my 'resting' R32, I'm looking at getting a replacement system board. Whilst I'm at it, it would be nice to do a simple, small upgrade so my question is this:

Can I simply replace my dead 1.7GHz system board with a 1.8 or 2.0 R32 system board?

From what I've read on the IBM website the answer's yes, but I'd like to get confirmation from an expert (that's you!) first.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel

No warranty unfortunately. Bought it ex-lease just over a year ago.

i bought my r40 off of ebay, and it was two months out of its three year warranty. i found this post warranty, called and ordered it without a hitch.

$180 including tax for a year, which will easily pay for itself at least three-fold in my situation.

Thanks for the warranty info - that seems a good deal for people in my position, however it's for the US only and I'm in Japan.

I've resigned myself to paying for a system board to get the R32 up and running (I'm really missing it) but if I could pop in a 2.0GHz board that would be great. Is it really that simple?

Sorry to bump this one but to get back on topic, does anyone know if I can just drop a 2.0GHz R32 system board into a 1.7GHz R32 machine?
Thanks,
Daniel
