X41 Has No "Create Recovery Discs" Option Under

#1 Post by bvaughn » Wed Jun 07, 2006 1:17 pm

My X41 does not show the option "Create Recovery Discs" under "Access IBM" on the Start->All Programs menu. Is there a way to create the recovery discs? If not, what can someone suggest? Thanks.

[Edited 6/8/06] Turns out that the option to "Create Recovery Media" is found (not where the Access IBM "Help" tells you but) under Start-> All Programs-> ThinkVantage. Who'd've thunk?!

Thanks, Riddil, for replying to the original post.

Sounds like you did the factory reload while you were off the dock. The recovery process only installs components for CD / DVD burning if you have the drive in the system while recovery.

If you still haven't done much with building up your image, you can try doing a new factory recovery while you have the drive in the bay.

You can also try checking all the files in C:\IBMTOOLS and see if there's an installer there for the apps / components you need.
