100MB Hitachi TravelStar 7k100 in a T42p 2378-EZU?

#1 Post by Ronn » Wed Jun 07, 2006 3:07 pm

I'm seeing conflicting information about using a 100MB Hitachi 7K100 in my T42p. Different sources tell me it will or won't fit in the UltraBay Slim.

Anyone know for sure or, better yet, tired it? Any comments pro or con on the choice?

Thanks!

I'm up to 9 of them and counting, they've all fit the Ultrabay on my T41p machines no problem. They'll fit your T42p just as well.

Regards.

Just to make sure things are clear here....

The Ultrabay Slim is the optical drive bay. There is an Ultrabay Slim hard disk drive adapter available for purchase, and the drive you mention above should fit it that. The main hard drive does not go into the Ultrabay Slim slot - it has it's own. The above hard drive should fit in both locations.

it will work just fine..
as long as you have the appropriate 2nd HDD adapter..
and if you want to use it in the drive bay it will worjk there, too..
you will want the metal bracket..
which will need to be appropriate to the very tight space in the ultrabay..

All 2.5" form factor PATA laptop HDDs I have seen thus far should work in the Ultrabay as well as in the primary HDD bay in the T42.

And I hope that is 100GB HDD, else you might want to look at 256MB Flash sticks. ;) :)

If you've got 9, I guess you like them. ;)

Thanks, everyone!

My problem is that everyone else likes them too! Every time I get one to upgrade one of my personal machines, a family member takes a liking to it and the HD suddenly grows legs.

I've managed to keep hold of four of the nine, the rest are among the missing!
