Network connection question
Network connection question
If my wireless card is enabled and receiving a signal, and I have an ethernet cable plugged into my computer, how do I know which network connection is being utilized? Do I have to disable the wireless radio in order to make sure it isn't wasting away my battery?
You should not have two or more TCP/IP connections open at the same time or your computer will get confused. Disable one, and use the other. This can be done manually (Network Connections folder) or with Access Connections (tends to be easier). Access Connections is supposed to switch automatically, but it does not for me. I explained this to IBM, they opened a case, and then they called me to tell me they are working on a new version to fix the automation. So over time, Access Connections is probably a good way to manage your connections. ... JDHurst
