With my Hitachi 7200rpm drive just having failed due to heat I suspect, I temporarily install my old stock drive which runs at 4800rpm. I'm also running Mobile Meter to monitor temps and they seem quite high.
HDD@ 57C and MB or Processor at 68C but my fan hasn't come on yet. The bottom of my laptop feels very hot to the touch. I never remember it getting this hot with this drive before.
Should my fan have already kicked in at those temps? I don't want to replace my drive with another 7200rpm one if there is a problem with my cooling.

While installing SP2 my motherboard temp went up to 72C, HDD was 58C and no fans kicked in. Is that normal. I'm starting to get errors and windows is having the odd crash. I'm wondering if this is down to temperature, ie. cooling system not working properly.
Can anyone else post the highest MB and HDD temps they have seen on their laptops. I'm using Mobile Monitor to check temps.
