T43 Screen Issue + random sound

I have owned my T43 for about six months now. I have been very happy with its performance. But recently the screen has been 'going black' for about 1sec randomly when it is on battery power. It happens about once every few min.

Another separte issue is that my speakers have been making a faint 'poping' sound when ever I open a folder or close one. I have been able to make it go away by turing the mic on and turning up the mic's volume a little bit.

Check your power manager settings and see if you're using a profile that changes the refresh rate after an [x] minute timeout. I created my profiles that do NOT change the refresh rate ever, as the blink bothered me.

There's another thread here somewhere about the "random pop sound." In my case, I found that it happened after a Windows "Start navigation" sound event in IE or Explorer. Selecting NO sound for the "Start Navigation" event (Sounds and audio devices control panel) cleared it up.
