Embedded Controller Version 1.06

Hi, I recently installed this on my t43. Now when I set my power scheme to "maximum battery", the computer throttles down to 768mhz, instead of 348 I believe.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Your T43 is fine.

The chipset in the T43 doesn't go lower than 800MHz and the T42 doesn't go lower than 600MHz; should you try to force them lower, you risk destabilizing the chip. I haven't seen a T43 go below ~800MHz nor have I seen any spec sheets to indicate it does so.

Where did you pick up EC 1.06? I thought 1.04 was the newest? (1.05 was pulled a couple months ago).

Edit: I just checked using "System Update" and nothing! Yet when I type in my machine type on Lenovo's site, it goes right to it. System Update sucks from my experience so far as it DOES NOT WORK. This is about the 4th update it's missed and I've had to go manually track the updates down & install them manually. (rant mode off)

Just stick with the Software Installer for now.

I haven't seen a real compelling reason as of yet to shift to System Update.

Although the EC 1.06 update wasn't displayed with the Software Installer either.

System Update and Software Installer databases being out of sync is kinda annoying too.

I made the mistake of relying on Software Update once, and it installed the IBM Power Manager on top of the other one and the two conflicted causing bootup problems. Not pretty :S

Version 1.06 is basically 1.05 with some of the 1.04->1.05 changes removed (so it's more like only a 1.04+ or 1.05-; see the T43/p & R52 Embedded Controller Internals thread for more details).

I'm just going to stick with v1.05 for right now. I'm not having the keyboard problems. The last thing I need right now is v1.06 mucking something up.
