what is this taking up lots of space

#1 Post by Cassirer » Fri Jun 09, 2006 3:25 am

I have an idea what this is, but would rather ask to make sure... I assume it is the back up of the operating system (which I thought was on a partition which I got rid of) ... and second questin is can it be deleted if I have an TrueImage image of the hardrive?

C:\Program Files\IBM ThinkVantage\Rescue and Recovery\rrcd

thanks in advance

This is an image of the IBM ThinkVantage Rescue & Recovery boot CD. If you are interested in keeping it, I suggest just burning the ISO (either thru Nero/etc. or using the Rescue & Recovery program) to a CD before deleting it -- though it is not much use unless you have actually made a R&R 'backup' at some stage.

Assuming you have not deleted the service partition.....

If your MBR (master boot record) gets damaged on your hard drive, you can use that CD to boot into Rescue and Recovery and retrieve data files (documents, etc.) plus restore factory contents if you wish.

O.k. ... if I understand correctly,

as I have done away with the partition using Partition Magic, am using True Image to create an image of OS and another daily external backup of all files ... and I have a R&R DVD ... then there really is not need for this file ... that is to say it serves no other function!?

Have I understood correctly? :?

You're right.

If you have already made the R&R CD + DVD, then this file is only the ISO for the CD part of the pair.
