#1 Post by basturd » Fri Jun 09, 2006 10:32 am

Hello everybody,

Where is the part number on T4* system boards is usually written? Is there any way to detect it without taking apart the laptop?

Thanks

You can always get it from the Hardware Maintenance Manual, based on your specific model/type. I would have given you the direct link to your specific model, but you only listed T4x.

I have a refurbished T40 with Radeon 9600. I wonder whether it means that my Thinkpad has T42 system board supporting Dothan 2.1GHz CPU.

The part number of the system board is visible from the memory bay. If there is memory in there, remove it and you can see the part number. .. JD Hurst

What is your full Model/Type number (ie. 2373-96U)?

Are you sure that you have the 9600 and not the 9000?

2373-BU7 which is T40.

The graphics chip is 100% Radeon 9600. Confirmed by 1) Windows, 2) performance in 3D Mark, 3) chip itself, which is visible when I remove the keyboard.

Thanks. I'll try to find it out.

Be careful with system board part numbers. Please read following thread. http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=25073

GomJabbar

I see. Thanks for the info.

All I am trying to figure out now is whether the fact that my system board comes with Radeon 9600 means that it also supports Dothan 2.1GHz

Now it is all getting very confusing. I was able to find the system board FRU looking at the memory slot at the bottom. There are two stickers on the system board. The original one says 93P3313, the one on top of it 39T5495.

According to IBM web site 93P3313 is "System board assembly for ATI M10 GL-128, Gigabit Ethernet with security chip for T41p series". So I do have Gigabit Ethernet with security chip for T41p series, but I don't have FireGL. I have Radeon 9600 with 64Mb of memory.

This is confusing. What kind of system board do I have?
