anyway to modify IBM video driver to support DVI 1600x1200?

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I can't find any older threads. Is there a way to modify the IBM Radeon/FireGL drivers to support DVI 1600x1200? (registry hack?) I am currently using the ATI Catalyst 4.9 drivers with Patje's mobility mod but would like to go back to using IBM's drivers. My problem is that most of the time, I connect my T42p to an external 20" LCD at 1600x1200 via DVI.

Yeah this is turning into a big topic with the release of apples cool displays. I am waiting patiently for IBM to get off their A$$e$$ and hook us up with a driver that does something usefull. The only other thing I have heard of is the Omega drivers.
