T40p Question

#1 Post by shaf » Sat Aug 07, 2004 7:07 am

Is the T40p a Centrino or Pentium M?

What's the diff. between Centrino and Pentium M?

Thanks!

Centrino = Pentium M + Intel 855 Chipset + Intel PRO/Wireless

If your computer has any other wireless device (like IBM or Cisco Aironet) then it's not a true Centrino. It probably only has a Pentium M processor and 855 chipset.

Should be noted that while Centrino name is a pretty thing, its rather meaningless because all it specifcys is a specific combination of cpu, chipset, and wireless. As long as you have the CPU and the Chipset, you can slap any wireless in there and have a "Centrino-Like" laptop that meets or surpasses the ability of a normal Centrino chipset. Personaly I think that IBM's A/B/G solution is superior to that of the Intel Centrino Card
