T30 and touchpad

#1 Post by hollingwood » Sun Jun 11, 2006 3:56 pm

Hello
we are making a good collection of thinkpads in our family, a T20, T23, and T30 all in good use.
Just recently we bought another T30 via Ebay. this is in excellent condition and complete with legit Windows XP2. This machine is a 2366 88G model.
However this T30 does not have a touch pad, only a track point (like the T20 and T23); whereas our other T30 was complete with touch pad and track point.
Every picture I have ever seen of a T30 has had a touch pad. I must admit that it doesn't really bother us as we use an external mouse, but I have been curious as to why it doesnt have a touch pad. Is this an early T30? The machine couldn't have the wrong keyboard bezel could it?
Thank you hollingwood

There was more than one version of the T30. Some had the touchpad and others did not. Some "die-hard" thinkpaders don't like touchpads, period.

The same is with newer models as well, some have them and some don't.
