Apple Cinema Display monitor with t40

#1 Post by fjs08 » Sat Aug 07, 2004 2:38 pm

Hi,
Anyone have any ideas of how to get an Apple Cinema Display monitor to work with a ThinkPad t40. The t40 is in a port replicator that has either an DVI to ADC jack. I have the DVI to ADC adapter. My video card is an ATI Mobility Fire GL 9000. I tried months ago to get this to work and nothing helped. I wonder if anyone has any new ideas???

The new Apple cinema displays all use DVI connectors so they can plug directly into the back of the port replicator.

However, you might need to use one of the modded drivers out there in order to to get the thinkpad to produce the correct resolution for the external display.

I am not sure that the current drivers support those resolutions.

You know this is really bugging the hell out of me. Why can't my top of the line 128mb Fire GL graphics card be allowed to hook up to a monitor with a resolution higher than 1280x1024? Is this a conspiracy? Its just stupid. If I can do it with a modded driver then why doesn't IBM allow for it? Geez, my internal resolution is higher than that.

I don't even want to go into the fact that there is no DVI on thinkpads yet.

Hey, IBM suits, get with the times! DVI, FIREWIRE, WIDESCREEN DISPLAYS, 8x DVD BURNERS, RADEON 9800 VIDEO!

How about it?

Dang suits need to get out of the boardroom.
