T40 recovery disks

#1 Post by carl3 » Mon Jun 12, 2006 12:49 pm

I ordered a set of T42 recovery disks for 2378 R4U. Got sent 8 CDs, 2 rescue disks and 1-6 of 7 recovery disks.

Called back and they sent me a set of recovery disks 1-4 for T40 2373/2374. The 5th disk is "Security Update CD for Access Support".

Called again. Hopefully, third time will be a charm.

Thanks for your help. This is a great site. The T42 is my first IBM laptop after years of company furnished Dell's and a personal Dell.

Sounds like there were two recovery boot disks (its a single disk so there is no reason to have two) but no recovery image disk 7 in the set that was received, so the set was packed wrongly when it was assembled!

Cheers,

Bill

I might be able to use those T40 cd's.
What do you want for them?
T60 2623-D7U, 3 GB Ram.
Dual boot XP and Linux Mint.

Update:

Bill had it right; received 2 rescue disks and 6 of 7 recovery disks; no disk 7 of 7.

Received another set this AM - same deal.

They are sending another set, so 3 times wasn't the charm.

Talked to someone who created his own set on same model - says it only created 6 recovery CDs plus the rescue CD.

I had tried to cut my own and had a problem, but tried again and it worked OK. Must have just been a bad CD, or whatever. At least, it didn't keep me from creating a set.

I got 6 recovery CDs plus a rescue CD.

Looks like I have 2 extra sets, if anyone wants one. Called support, but they said the next one was on its way already, and they didn't want me to send them back

T40/T42 recovery disks

#7 Post by carl3 » Fri Jun 16, 2006 9:17 am

Latest update:
received third set of T42 recovery disks and surprise, there is a disk 7 of 7. Kind of strange, considering I cut my own set from my T42 and it cut 6 disks plus the rescue disk.

Anyway, I now have an extra set of IBM recovery disks, with a burned copy of disk 7 that I did, if anyone wants it.

I already sold the T40 set and one T42 set.
