Problems reading DVD+R DL and DVD+RW

My apologies if this has been brought up before. I tried searching on this topic and could not find anything.

I have a T41p with the original multiburner option (the Matshita UJ-812B, P/N 92P6110) that only burns DVD-R and DVD-RW. However, it is supposed to read all of the +R stuff.

I can usually read DVD+Rs with no problems, but cannot read dual layer DVD+Rs that I burn on my workstation. I am using Verbatim DVD+R DLs (MKM-001) and no other drive or DVD player I have tried these in has any problems at all. This list includes 1-year-old Sony Vaio and a 3-year-old Toshiba Satellite both with CD-burner/DVD-reader drives, and my 2-year-old cheapo $50 DVD player. The Matshita also has problems with DVD-RWs, although sometimes it eventually manages to read them.

I have upgraded the drive to the latest firmware as of 1 month ago. I was curious if anybody else has had this problem. If not, maybe I can try getting the drive replaced under warranty.

Similar problem here on a similar spec drive - the UJ-822S. AFAIK there is no update yet for mine. Did you get yours resolved?
