Questions about Hitachi HDD tool

#1 Post by heiss » Mon Jun 12, 2006 11:31 pm

Hi folks,
I'm trying to use the Hitachi HDD tool that some of you recommended and have a few questions.

I had trouble with making booting disk since I don't have any floppy drive. I think one of you mentioned about making booting CD instead of booting disk; can any of you let me know how to do so?

And, how much difference does it make? I mean, does it reduce the spinning noise or the clicking noise?

Thanks forks.

Thanks. But making a bootdisk is no big problem for me. I know how to make it; but I do not have floppy drive, so I cannot make it. The problem is that without making a floppy booting disk I cannot install the hitachi hdd tool.

is it the hitachi feature tool you mean?

if it is you can download a cd-image with this link and just burn it as a cd-image in your cd-burning application.

and yes, it does take the edge of the sound that the harddrive makes. at least for me it did. i highly recommend it. at least if you're like me and appreciate a more silent computer. sure it takes a way a bit of the performance, but it's nothing that i notice...

Well, if it is too much hassle to go through and set the states via the feature tool; you could always try the Power Booster 2K;

Reboot your computer with the CD inserted. During boot, you should see a 'press any key to boot from CD" message.

If you don't see the message, hold down F1 during boot, go into BIOS setup and add the CD/DVD to the front of the boot order.
