Over the last year I have had some issues using high speed USB 2 devices with my thinkpad. Often the computer would not operate a USB2 device at USB 2 speeds. Giving that most annoying of messages "Hi Speed USB device plugged into Non Hi Speed USB Port".
Usually it was possible to rectify this by rebooting the system or by uninstalling the USB hardware through device manager and letting the operating system reinstall it.
However, now no matter what I do my T40 will not recognise a USB 2 device on its ports. I have updated all the drivers and the BIOS etc. i have performed a clean install twice and I have installed the RTM version of XP SP2.
Despite all my efforts my T40 will no longer recognise USB2 devices at their rated speeds.
Anyone have similar issues with their USB ports?
I have called IBM and told them the situation and said that I thought that it was a system board problem. They are sending me a box next week so I can send the T40 in for service.
Any thoughts or experiences?
