parellel port / bios update problems

#1 Post by kitweb » Tue Jun 13, 2006 11:00 pm

Hi There,

I am trying to update the bios on my thinkpad A22m. Im running XP SP2 and have updated all the thinkpad software with the auto update.

Im am still having a problem with my parrelel port however. I am using a DMX interface and it just wont work! I try it on an old toshiba computer running windows 98 and it runs perfectly. The manufacturer of the interface says to upgrade to XP SP2 which I did. I know there is no problem with the port because it recognises a printer I have. I hav also tried changing the protocol from EPP to bi directional etc.

The only last thing I can think of is updating the BIOS but I read somewhere in the forums that if you have updated all your software via auto update then it automatically updates the BIOS. When I go to the website to update the BIOS it says "the diskette in the default drive is not compatible with this system"...

Can anyone think of reason why the parellel port is not working with the interface or how I can update the BIOS?

Many Thanks.

XP & 98 treat the parallel port differently. In the properties for the port in device manager, have you tried telling it to always use an interrupt?
