HELP !!! 2378 fvu usb wont work

#1 Post by fred » Wed Jun 14, 2006 1:50 pm

hello i have a small but important problem. well yesterday i decided to updated my t42 2378-fvu using the software installer. after downloading for over an hour i installed and upgraded, however the wifi would not turn on and my usb would only work at a 1.1 speed. so i decided to restore it to the factory preset using the cds provided by ibm. after i restored, the internet works but my USB is still only running at a slow 1.1 pace, it says "this device can perfirm faster if pluged into a 2.0 port" i know the devices work because they work on my personal computer. i think it may be my bios or the embedded contorller program. if some one could help my resolve this ASAP that would be greatly appreciated

What exactly are you trying to plug into your USB port? Are you using more than one USB device? Are you using a USB hub or anything like that?

EDIT: If you updated the BIOS, try this:
Initializing BIOS
-----------------
In some cases, it may be a good idea to try BIOS initialization when
you have some troubles.

To initialize the BIOS setups:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer.
3. While the "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM
button" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen,
press the Access IBM button.
4. Double-click Start setup utility.
The BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed.
If you have set a supervisor password, the BIOS Setup Utility
menu appears after you enters the password.
5. Press the F9 key to load default configuration.
6. Select Yes.
7. Press the F10 key to save default configuration and exit.
8. Select Yes.

After the initialization has been completed, the system restarts
automatically.

Note:
After initialization you may need to re-apply some settings that you had changed previously.
