Fan Error on bootup? A30

#1 Post by jonliu » Thu Jun 15, 2006 1:20 pm

I own a A30 and I keep getting a Fan error upon power on. I am unable to go to BIOS.

Also the Fan does not seem to be spinning. So I replaced the fan with another fan I have from a broken A30, and still not spinning. I then proceeded to measure the input voltage going to the fan and I am getting zero. I am measuring after I power on the laptop, I should be getting 5 volts when I hit power on right? Or does it power on later on during the bootup sequence.

I then tried just pulling out the fan to see if I can get rid of the fan error, no luck.

This leads me to believe that the system board might be bad. Does anyone have anyformation on how to trace this signal? Maybe a system board schematic?

I'd like to take some more troubleshooting before I send it in for service.

I also measured the backup battery and I am getting 3.02 Volts. So this should be fine.

Any ideas?

I've come across this as well. Just wanted to see if anyone else has seen this and have any thoughts.
