t42p motherboard question: 39t5475

#1 Post by KillerStudio » Fri Jun 16, 2006 12:12 pm

Does anyone know where I can find a spec sheet on this motherboard: 39t5475? I just want to make sure that it is for a t42p and had the fingerprint chip.

Thanks!

Are you sure of the part number? It maybe 39T5495?

The second is the one i have installed and no it does not have fingerprint.

Yes, FRU 39T5475 is indeed the motherboard for a T42p and it DOES have the fingerprint chip.

One thing I can say is that the Hardware Maintenance Manual and the Service Parts List web page does not always have the correct FRU number for the motherboards in the T40-T42 series. The only way to be certain is to visually look at the motherboard and get the FRU number off of it.

That's always good advice.
In this case, FRU 39T5475 is indeed the motherboard for a T42p and it DOES have the fingerprint chip.
This is not a guess or speculation; it's a fact.

I am speculating here, but I am pretty sure you could use the board with a non-fingerprint reader palmrest. Of course you would have no fingerprint reader function. I think there is a setting in the BIOS to disable the fingerprint reader, but since I don't have one, I can't be sure.
