Lost clear plate

#1 Post by pdudas » Sun Jun 18, 2006 3:20 pm

I've lost the outside clear plate from my X60.
I didnt removed before, and today I see only the leds.
Do you think IBM will give me a new one, or I have to pay for it?

I have a lot of clear plate for the T series, but not fit on the X60.

Hi James,
I tried to get the part but they only sent me the ones for inside the unit, not on the outside and they claimed they didn't have a part number for the outside plate.

They actually suggested that I send the entire unit in so that they could replace the outside plate. I'm not kidding :-)

First they claim they don't have the part number and then they say to send it in so they can replace the part? If they have the replacement part, they should be able to send it to you right?

Confused..

I just lost that plate on my X60s too. Looks like the adhesive sucks

Adhesive sucks, because we let the machine plugged in all night and the led dissipate some heat directly to the clear plate.

Well I called support, and they said that they're mailing a new one too me. Hopefully they're sending the right part

Well, instead of sending the plastic piece, they sent a box to ship my entire laptop in. I'm going to call on Monday and give it another shot.

Ok, they have to replace the entire lcd cover, they don't have just that sticker. Unfortuantely, I can't send in my laptop, so I'm upgrading to onsite warranty just to do this
