help with a20m

#1 Post by farthur1 » Sun Jun 18, 2006 10:05 pm

please help! i am the owner of an a2om. the machine was working great until i tried to replace the ram stick with a new one. after installing the ram stick and powering on, the machine made a beep code, so i uninstalled the stick. after replacing the new ram stick with the old one, now i get no display, no poll, no beep codes. when i have no ram in the machine, i do get beep code 1,3,3,1. when ram stick is in the machine will power up, but no hard drive activity. two lights will come on, the light on far left and the one on the far right, after a second, the light on far left goes out and only the light on far right stays on. is this a system board problem or maybe an issue with the video sub card. the cmos battery is fine also. i have exhausted myself trying to figure out what happened, also i have other replacement parts, but i obviously have 3 boards that are bad. one system board will not power on, the other two do the same as described above. please help. i appreciate any input in advance.

Have you read through the stick at the top of the R/A/G conference? There were certain common power issues relating to the A2xs.

thanks i checked that out and from what i gather, my mobos must be toast. what a waist. any recommendation on where i can get a good replacement for cheap? thanks in advance for your help. also is it possible that a ram chip could cause the mobo to go bad?

That depends on what you mean by cheap and what you want to do with the machine.
