I'm wondering if it's possible to take an network antenna from an A31p and stick it in an A21p to take advantage of the mini pci wireless network cards. Anybody try?
If not, I want to add USB2 and Firewire ports via a PCMCIA card, but I would lose my wireless since I would have to pull out my wireless PCMCIA card.
Thanks for any helpful suggestions.

not likely..
the space inside the top of the A21 will probably not be sufficient..
also, there is a small "window" for the antenna..
present on the A31 and not on the A21..
to be sure, get a copy of the hardware maintenance manual for each of those models..

A21p with wireless
There are a couple of ways to do wireless without the antennas in the laptop display (although, I must say IMHO that it's best for reception). The first is to use an internal antenna that runs under the keyboard from the MPCI slot. There's a guys from the UK on ebay that sells them regularly and has a very informative site with lots of information. The second is to use on of the 3Com X-Jack wireless cards in the lower PC Card slot while you use a USB 2.0/Firewire card in the upper. The caviat there is that you pretty much have to use the X-Jack wireless card since it's antenna doesn't bulge up since it is designed to go back inside the body of the card and you'll have to use a flat-bottomed combo card such as the Adaptec so that it won't interfere with the antenna below it.
Good luck with this.
