Should I bother with x20/21 after buying a 570?

X2/X3/X4x series specific matters only

Should I bother with x20/21 after buying a 570?

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Tue Jun 20, 2006 10:16 am

im still waiting for my 570 arrive that i bought on a silly whim. then as usual, i keep searching and searching, knowing that im eventually going to find something else that makes my eyes bulge. im not looking for a super machine, as the x20 and 21 are clearly not- but a step up from a p2 366 to say the least. does anyone think it would be worthwhile to pass over the 570 and move right onto the x20/21?

It depends what you're looking for. I've had both. As much as I like the form factor of the 570 (size wise), it's older technology. The x20/x21 were good, but for me they were a little too small. Excellent laptops. I guess I was looking for something bigger and still light. Using either my T40 or R31 or T23, I'm happy now. Maybe it's the 14" screen that appeals to me. Of course, the speed helps!

Have fun,

i guess i should give the 570 a chance at least. ive already written it off, but thats discriminatory!

i probably should have thought more before buying as usual- but it all leads to a better understanding of the product, and that makes me happy too. i upgraded to the r40 from the 600e because it was too slow- so i go and get another one with the same processor only because its a bit slimmer lol. ill see how i like it, but i have a feeling ill be spending more money i should be saving on an X20 or 21.

570

To me, the IBM 570 is the perfect computer because of it's full size keyboard and lightweight. That keyboard is just way more comfy than any T2, 600 or X series.

I got my gf that computer back in 2002 and it worked fine with W200 on 192mb RAM. However if I was to splurge on a used lightweight backup, I probably would have gone with the 570e instead.

if you come back hadoken-

do you know if that computer is still working? 4 years later, who knows with girls..

i did see the 570e, but couldnt justify it, as the 570 was within range to not affect the finances.

they both have their good qualities, but i do like the fact that im comfortable with the 600e and the 570 has a similar layout. i dont know if i could deal with a 12 inch screen, but i guess thats what makes it such a portable item.
