questions about my t41p

i recently purchsed a t41p and have several questions/concerns...sorry if some of them are stupid

1. in my dorm room i can only get a wireless connection if my wireless radio is turned on...is that normal?

2. the battery maximizer gauge and the power meter are giving me different battery readings, with the power meter showing that the battery has 10% less power

3. occasionally when i scroll over my icon tray it'll only show me the top portion of the messages displayed...for example i just scrolled over the power meter icon and on a part of the dialogue box came up...

4. the left palm rest is rather creaky

5. is the device access indicator supposed to blink or stay lit? i find that on my comp it is almost constantly blinking and the when it blinks it sometimes makes an annoying "clicking" sound

any help/info would be greatly appreciated

1. Yes, that's normal. With no power going to it, your wireless won't work.

2. That's a little extreme but still normal. You should run down your battery completely to ~1-3% and charge it up again without using it. It should match then.

3. I don't know what you mean.

4. The left palm rest squeak thing is normal too. It's because there's that open PCMCIA slot there. You'll notice that if you take out your optical drive, it'll squeak as well if you squeez the right side of your Thinkpad.
