a little problem with the mouse stick

#1 Post by festher » Wed Jun 21, 2006 3:06 am

i love the stick and buttons so much i almost stopped ever using anything else, but i have alittle problem with the stick, quite often when im using it the cursor start going left.. and to keep it still or make it go right on the screen i have to push the stick alot harder. i think this might be software and not hardware related, the reason is that i can useally stop it pushing left by moving the cursor a little bit, using the tuchpad.

anybody else seen this behavour from the stick/cursor?

Yup; it is recalibrating itself. When it does so, let it go until it stops.

It is more frequent when it has to deal with constant pressure on it for prolonged periods of time. Try to make sure you don't rest your finger on it whilst on the keyboard or pushing on the far edges of the trackpoint for a long time. Put yourself in the upright posture for using it as well to get the best leverage. Quick, short movements are great for it; not anything slowly drawn out with a large steady state force applied to it in one direction. Otherwise, it will have to recalibrate to take that into account.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
