X20 can it play divx any problems ?

my dilema is since ill get this for my girlfriend witch wanna watch divx movies on it in spare time due to the 4mb card i wanna know does this work or not and if it does does it run smoth people plese reply so i can buy it due to the fact its realy cheap offer for imployes .

Beautiful machine. I'd strongly consider to upgrade it to its maximum of 320MB, though. Please notice that the necessary sticks are quite expensive.

Depends on the format. 'Ordinary' DIVX movies at about a quarter-NTSC resolution, even if created with the latest codec, should play fine. Videos in HDTV resolution definitely will not. So which type of DIVX movies do you want to watch? You have to provide resolution and codec in order for us to give you definite answers.

ps how mutch does it cost the extra memory ... couse ill be giving round 150 us for this machine . (IBM employe sale)

As I said before, normally DivX files will play just fine. You can check the codec ver / resolution very easily with VirtualDub (File -> File Information):

ps how mutch does it cost the extra memory

Unfortunately, it's getting ever more rare and expensive. Currently this memory is listed for as much as 172 USD (insane!) by Kingston, for instance:

With a little bit of searching, you should be able to find some new generic memory of this kind (only special memory for the i440BX chipset will work!) for round about 80-100 USD. Used memory may be available a bit cheaper on ebay.

This sounds like a very good deal to me, especially when considered that a DVD/CD-RW is already included. Under these circumstances, I'd say: Go for it! You can't do much wrong with it provided that the machine is in good technical condition. Depending on your personal standards (or that of your girl-friend, for that matter), 128MB RAM might suffice if you stick to Windows 2000 and typical office applications. If it doesn't suit your needs, you should even be able to sell this unit on ebay with a bit of profit.

Wonderful Machine, if you keep it clean (no spyware) and upgrade the ram it'll be great for running most applications. Hell I could even cs with 30fps, and divx files should play just fine. You could get a compactflash wirelesscard or pcmia wirelesscard too.

My t21 (800mhz, 384MB of ram) plays every divx move I've thrown at it w/o a problem. I believe it's even worked fine in "slow" mode.

Well just got the cal from out tech. guys that it does not include the cd rw drive as i know this comp. does not have an optical drive . What woud be the best cd rw solution for it it will be most of time sitting at home as i know my gf will not drag it around mutch . BTW does it have usb 2.0 or its 1.1 and is it one or 2 ports of usb .

ps the cd rw solutions please post some links to the products if u can .
